Key Features
Tank-raised corals, also known as aquacultured or captive-bred corals, are corals that are propagated and grown in controlled environments. These corals offered in our leasing program have numerous advantages over wild-harvested corals, benefiting the environment, aquarists, and the marine industry.
Benefits:
1. Cost Efficiency
- Corals leasing program involves fixed periodic payments, making budgeting simpler.
2. Environmental Benefits
- Reduced Wild Harvesting: Tank-raised corals reduce the need for collecting corals from natural reefs, helping to preserve delicate ecosystems and prevent over harvesting.
- Sustainable Practices: Propagation in tanks is a renewable process, providing a continuous supply without depleting natural resources.
- Ecosystem Protection: By decreasing demand for wild corals, aquaculture helps mitigate damage caused by reef harvesting, such as habitat destruction and biodiversity loss.
3. Hardier Corals
- Adapted to Captivity: Tank-raised corals are accustomed to aquarium conditions, including lighting, water flow, and nutrient levels, making them more resilient and easier to maintain.
- Disease Resistance: They are often more resistant to common diseases compared to wild-caught corals, having been raised in a controlled environment.
- Stress Tolerance: These corals are less likely to suffer from transport stress, as they are acclimated to human handling and tank life.
4. Lower Risk of Introducing Pests
- Pests Control: Tank-raised corals are typically grown in environments where pests and invasive species are minimized, reducing the likelihood of introducing harmful organisms into home aquariums.
5. Greater Availability and Variety
- Year-Round Supply: Tank-raised corals can be propagated continuously, ensuring a steady and predictable supply for our leasing program.
- Unique Morphs: Coral often produce unique color morphs or variants through selective breeding, offering a diverse range of options for your aquariums.
Ideal for
- Businesses: Offices, restaurants, and retail spaces looking to enhance their environment.
- Homeowners: Those wanting a reef aquarium with a peace of mind.
