The Candy Cane Squirrelfish (Sargocentron diadema) can be found throughout seaward reefs in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are a vibrant red with white or silver stripes running horizontally. They are considered reef safe, as they will not bother coral. They will consume crustaceans or smaller fish though, so they should be monitored when kept in community tanks with other reef fish. They do well in FOWLR and semi-aggressive tanks, as well as community reefs, as long as the other tank mates are similar in size. The Crown squirrelfish reaches a maximum length of 6 inches and should be kept in an aquarium of at least 75 gallons. They do well in small schools.
