Elacatinus multifaciatum. Tigrigobius multifasciatus. The Green Banded Goby is native to the western Atlantic Ocean. The Green Banded Goby has a olive green body with lime green vertical stripes and a red striped mask over its eyes. These unique colorations make the Green Banded Goby a fascinating reef fish that looks unlike any other. The Green Banded Goby is active during the day poking in and out of structured rock work in the tank. They should be kept in tanks with plenty of rockwork allowing them to explore and hide. If housed with more aggressive fish, the Green Banded Goby should be introduced to the tank first allowing it to find its natural home within the tank. They can be housed with members of their own species as long as there are three or more in the group. The Green Banded Goby has often been known to spawn in home aquariums laying their eggs in cracks in the rockwork or even empty shells. Aquarists often note that the Green Banded Goby is active, friendly, and is a character in the tank. This fish is particularly suited for the nano tank environment. The Green Banded Goby eats a variation of frozen meaty foods including brine and mysis shrimp as well as other carnivorous preparations. Overall this fish is excellent for beginner or expert aquarists alike as it is beautiful, hardy, easy to care for, and an active member of the tank.
