The Red and Black Starfish, also known as the Red Sea Star come in various shades of red with numerous black pores on its body as well as black on the tips of the arms. These stars are best kept solo but can be kept in small groups in a large enough tank. They require a mature tank with plenty of algae to graze on. If insufficient algae is present it is best to supplement with flake food or small pieces of fish or mussel. Like most starts the Red and Black Star is very intolerant to sudden changes in salinity, pH, and oxygen levels.
