The Yasha Shrimp Goby requires a tank with a sandy substrate as it is known for it's burrowing behavior and will hover several inches from the entrance to the burrow. They can be kept in pairs, but individuals of the same sex will fight, especially two males in a smaller aquarium. Provide a bed of sand and coral rubble where they can burrow and hide. These fish use burrows in the sand for safety. Some of the Goby species are known to share their burrows with Pistol Shrimp. Most Gobies have cupped ventral fins that nearly join just below their gill plates that serve as perching mechanisms so the Goby can always be on the lookout in a resting position.
